Police Memorial Day 2008 - Weston-super-Mare Parade

To be a part of a unique group of people who strive everyday to make the communities in which we live a safer place makes me immensly proud.

Some of those people, our colleagues, past and present have given their lives in the execution of their duty and made the ultimate sacrifice.

Sunday the 28th September 2008 is National Police Memorial Day and it gives us the opportunity to pay our respects to those who have lost their lives as Police Officers.

I would therefore ask all of you that are able to attend our local 'J' District Memorial parade on Sunday the 28th at 1500hrs to come and join us. The parade will take the same form as previous years, mustering from about 1330hrs at Walliscote Road Primary School before marching to the local church for the remembrance ceremony. A buffet will be available after the event.

Last years event was a splendid sight and all those that took part were a credit to themselves and the force. Photographs from the 2007 parade can be found by clicking this link.

Let us do this not only for those whom we intend to honour, but for ourselves as well.

Please contact either Neil Goodwin or myself and let us know if you are able to attend. Dress is number one uniform, tunics and black leather gloves.
